Review: Perdido Street Station

Perdido Street Station
Perdido Street Station by China Miéville
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

Dire. Don’t believe the hype, this is overwritten nonsense that could do with a bloody good edit. I gave up at page 140 ( having given up once before around page 40 ) too many characters, races, ideas, to hold in your head at once and to make any sense of. I liked the feel of the book which came across as a bloated, distorted, mutation of Victorian London but it tries too hard. I got this because lots of people rave about it but for the life of me I can’t see why.
